A dominant all-around performance powered the Spartans to their first victory of the season. Here are the highlights from the away match in Everett, a 4.5-hour trip from Spokane, north of Seattle.

Key all-round contributions came from these four Spartans!

Sankar, Rishi, Param, Pavan
Sankar, Rishi, Param, Pavan

Rishi delivered an outstanding all-round performance. He was the highest wicket-taker and the only bowler from both teams not to concede any extras. In 5 overs, he bowled 20 dot balls for just 11 runs, building pressure from the start. Rishi took the first three wickets, contributed a crucial run-out thereafter, and set a strong foundation from the get-go. He then came in to bat at two down and scored a valuable 33 runs, including 3 boundaries. [MY] Man of the Day!

Sankar impressed with 7 overs at a 2.57 economy and took a catch. With the bat, he scored 33 from 30 balls, hitting three fours and three sixes for a strong start. Nicely done!

Param bowled a 7-over spell, taking 2 wickets at a 2.86 economy and holding a catch. He came in at three down and added a crucial 49 off 67 balls, becoming the highest scorer today. Unbeaten and one shy of a half-century. Way to go, Captain!

Pavan, the wicketkeeper-batsman, also contributed by taking a catch and supporting his captain in finishing the game with an unbeaten 10. Well Played!

Spartans started strong and looked likely to dismiss the opposition for under 120. However, the No. 8 batsman fought back with 69, helping set a target of 185 for the Spartans to chase. And they did!

The first win of the season always feels special. Cheers! There’s still a long way to go—one game at a time.
